Paul Nicklen, a Canadian-born polar specialist and marine biologist, spent his childhood among the Inuit people, who taught him the understanding of icy ecosystems and survival skills that have turned him into one of the most successful photojournalists of our generation. Paul has produced 16 stories for National Geographic on issues related to conservation and natural history, many of which focused on polar ecosystems and climate change. Despite the personal peril he often faces while working in very remote and harsh environments, Paul seeks to cover meaningful stories that create emotional connections between human beings and Earth’s marine and polar realms.
